A Note from the Diversity Equity & Inclusion Team

ALA is the go to organization for our roles as law firm leaders!  As an ALA member, resources on several topics are available to you at both the national and chapter levels.  ALA's National Committee for Diversity & Inclusion works to educate legal industry leaders about why diversity is important and how we can work to bring diversity and inclusion to the legal workplace.  This week we thought it would be helpful to highlight diversity and inclusion resources that are available to you from ALA National.  This snapshot of helpful tools from ALA National can be found here.    

  • The Diversity & Inclusion Resources tab – Here you will locate white papers, reports and reference guides ranging from Law 360’s Snapshot by the Numbers, to Transgender Inclusion, to Bullying and Sexual Harrassment.
  • Educational Presentations tab – Did you know ALA has a team of volunteers that are available to present to your organization?Contact to discuss your program and learn more about how this team can assist you in achieving your diversity and inclusion educational goals.
  • ALA Diversity Toolkit tab – Here you can view a publication from The Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession (“IILP”), that includes the ALA Toolkit providing a deep dive into why inclusion is important for your organization, and a sample Diversity Policy.
  • Mentoring Guide tab – This page contains the ALA Guide to Cross-Functional Mentoring, as well as a sample mentoring agreement, mentor/mentee surveys, individual development plans, and other mentoring resources.

The Chicago Chapter DEI Team is also committed to being a local resource for all Chicago chapter members. We will continue to distribute content you can use relating to your DEI efforts.
