President's Message - Laura Sears, CLM [4/30/20]
Wednesday, April 29, 2020
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the President of the Chicago Chapter this year. Throughout my decades of membership in ALA, I have enjoyed the benefits of membership and have gained invaluable knowledge, support, friendship, and opportunities. Because of the efforts of our 2019-2020 Board of Directors and committee members, we held over 55 educational and networking events, provided education and news via the Administrator’s Advantage, and strengthened our ties with our business partners.
My sincere appreciation must be extended to the Board of Directors for their commitment to our Chapter. Thank you, Ken Koehn, Jose Cheesman, Mary Ann Rojas, Mike Motyka, Rita Nielsen, Michelle Howe, Patsy Carey, Kat Denk, Betsy Kopczynski, Patti Winter, Suzie Florez, Barb Javorcic, and Anna Sorensen.
It is so very important that we all make, maintain and grow our connections. I hope that you have been able to do that through ALA this year – cultivating connections with members, colleagues who provide guidance and support, peers who become friends, and business partners who assist us in providing exemplary service, innovative ideas, and cutting edge, cost-saving strategies so that we can lead our firms effectively.
I have benefited from the wonderful experience of connecting with all of you. We need each other now more than ever during this difficult time. COVID-19 has presented our families, firms, and organizations with unique challenges. ALA continues to be a source of information, ideas, and support! As we navigate in this new world in the months to come, remember to connect with your Chapter members and business partners. We will get through this together.
I am honored to pass the gavel on to ALA Chicago’s incoming President, Ken Koehn, my colleague and friend. Our Chapter is in great hands with Ken and our incoming Board of Directors. While this year will most certainly be different than any other we have experienced, I am confident that the 2020-2021 Board of Directors will lead ALA Chicago through this period and make us stronger than ever.
Hope to connect with you – if just virtually – soon!
