My name is:  Michael Lazenby

I work for: Scott D. Pollock & Associates, P.C.

The firm & practice is: Immigration Law.

My title is:  Firm Administrator.

Before becoming an Administrator: I worked in Human Resources at an options trading firm.

I have been working in the legal field: Over 13 years.

I have a degree in: Business Management from North Park University.

I joined ALA Chicago Chapter: To lean on the experience and knowledge of others in the Chapter.

To be successful in legal administration: You must have high levels of organization and patience.

The thing I like best about being a Firm Administrator is:  Having a direct influence on the firm’s performance and profitability.

One of the challenges of being in legal administration is:  The need to constantly switch gears to and from many diverse projects and tasks.

The best advice I've ever received is:  Be yourself.

The best advice I would give to someone who is just entering the legal management field is:  Listen more than you speak.

I try to motivate my staff by:  Making sure that they know that I genuinely care for them on a personal level.

If I weren't a Firm Administrator, I would:  Be coaching basketball.

The last good book I read was:  Counter Culture by David Platt.

The last good movie I saw was:  The Farewell.

The last vacation I took was:  London earlier this month.

The one appointment I never miss is:  Dinner with my wife.

In my free time, I enjoy:  Reading and working out.
