A Note from the Editor

Now that our city has officially defrosted from spring snowfalls, I am ready for SUMMER! As the season officially changes this week, we also have exciting changes of our own we’d like to share with you.

As you have noticed, we are transitioning into a digital format for Administrator’s Advantage, complete with our brand-new Chapter logo! The Board wanted to give our Greater Chicago Chapter a fresh new look and your Newsletter Committee is following suit.  Our newsletter will not only have a new look, but it will offer an interactive reading experience. As you read the newsletter, you will find there are links which will allow you to easily navigate the articles, find helpful tips, and take you to the Chapter website for expanded content. Stay tuned for our fully digital format in the coming issues, but for now we hope you will find this “transitional” new format both engaging and, dare I say – Advantageous.

This issue is primarily focused on this year’s ALA Annual Conference, which was held on April 14-17th in Grapevine, Texas. Among the 913 attendees were 36 of your fellow chapter members, including nine scholarship winners, and some first time attendees. Our scholarship winners were asked to write about their conference experiences to share with the Chapter- so take a good read and perhaps you will also walk away with valuable takeaways without ever leaving your chair.

This being the first issue as your editor, I would like to welcome our new members and Business Partners: I hope you find our newsletter informative as well as entertaining. I encourage feedback from all, good and bad, so please feel free to reach out to me or any member of the Newsletter Committee.

Lastly, I want to thank Sue Burdett, your previous editor, for her dedication and commitment she devoted to this amazing publication.

I hope you have a wonderful summer filled with fun and adventure with friends and family.

Happy Reading!
Betsy
