DESCRIPTION:   he Human Resources Manager manages human resources services, systems and activities for the Firm in its Chicago office. The Manager will oversee the employee record-keeping process; coordinating staff recruiting; coordinating the employee counseling and disciplinary processes; promoting employee welfare; benefits enrollment; employee performance evaluation, monitoring and counseling; conducting the new employee orientation and departing employee meetings. DESCRIPTION:   Goldberg Kohn is seeking a Human Resources Manager to development and implement initiatives that support the firm's ongoing efforts to strengthen its culture to attract and retain superb talent.  The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the talent management, benefits administration, and recruiting functions and exercises discretion and independent judgment while working under the general supervision of the Chief Operating Officer.

Essential Duties:  • Partner with firm leadership in creating and implementing talent, benefit, and recruiting initiatives that support the firm’s business goals. • Manage the Human Resources Department including assigning and supervising projects; evaluating and monitoring department performance and responsibilities; and mentoring and developing the staff members' professional development and growth. • Oversees staff and attorney recruiting and onboarding. • Counsels staff who are not meeting firm standards and discusses improvement methods; coaches attorneys’ and supervisors through progressive discipline with individuals. • Manage the annual performance evaluation program for staff and associates.
• Administers annual wage and salary review of support staff and conduct compensation market analysis. • Develops and maintains human resource-related statistical reports; analyzes trends, and makes   recommendations based on these trends. • Responds to employee relation claims, worker compensation claims and unemployment claims.

DESCRIPTION:   Vedder Price’s Chicago office is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic team-oriented Staff Recruiter with a minimum of 3 years of recruiting.  This person will be responsible for recruiting non-attorney staff for all our 7 offices.  This position works in coordination with the HR team and reports to the HR Manager.   As the Staff Recruiter your job duties will include but not limited to: • Handles all administrative staff and paralegal full-cycle recruitment from initial point of contact with candidate to offer letter.
• Screens, interviews, and hires exempt and non-exempt support staff candidates. • Presents hiring managers with qualified candidates sourced through Internet recruitment, outside agencies, employee referrals, industry-specific publications, newspapers, and various community organizations. • Establishes relations and negotiates contracts with employment agencies. • Negotiates salaries and prepares offer letter. • Administers pre-employment tests, background checks and reference checks. • Performs other duties as assigned.
